Magicians look to Flavell
Friday, June 13 2003The Canterbury Womens Cricket team(State Canterbury Magicians) has had a change in coach after Vicki Burtt's two year contract came to an end. Ex-New Zealand player Kirsty Flavell has replaced Burtt for the next season after being a selector for the White Ferns for the last 2 years.
Flavell was the first womens player to score a double century in Test cricket after scoring 204 against England in 1996. She played 6 tests with 473 runs at 67.95 and 38 ODI's with 719 runs at 29.95. She also took 7 wickets in ODI's.
She also played 33 games for Canterbury. The Magicians have finished runner-up in recent years to Auckland in the State League.
