Johnson jinx strikes again
Saturday, June 14 2003Richard Johnson, one of the heroes of last week's test victory against Zimbabwe, has fallen foul of injury yet again.
Johnson appeared to 'tweak' a knee whilst fielding a ball at The Riverside, Chester-le-Street, last week and looks set to miss the NatWest Challenge against Pakistan.
Dr. Peter Gregory, England's chief medical officer, said "Richard's knee is swollen and sore and we have ruled him out of all cricket for the next week - but we are hopeful he will be ready to return for the NatWest Series."
Late update : James Kirtley has stepped into the fold as a late replacement for Johnson in the NatWest Challenge.
