Harbhajan misses out

Harbhajan Singh, injured during the World Cup, has had his contract with Lancashire cancelled by mutual consent.

The Indian spinner was due to report to Old Trafford today (Friday), but following a fitness test, has contacted the county to tell them that the injured digit was swollen and painful again.

A spokesman for Lancashire CCC, Mike Watkinson, said "It's disappointing that Harbhajan will not now be joining us, but at least a firm decision has been reached. We wish him well for the future and trust that he will soon be fully recovered."

It is expected that "The Turbanator"'s temporary replacement, former West Indian skipper Carl Hooper, will now extend his contract until the end of the season.
