McKenzie Out of NatWest

Thursday, June 12 2003

South African batsman Neil McKenzie has been ruled out of the NatWest Series in England due to a back injury.

McKenzie has struggled since the tour of Bangladesh with the injury and despite his best efforts to prove his fitness management felt he was best left for the Test series.

Boeta Dippenaar is his likely replacement.

Meanwhile, former coach Bob Woolmer has criticised rookie South Africa captain Graeme Smith for his stinging attack on Lance Klusener.

Smith stated that Klusener was a destabilising presence in the national squad, much to the surprise of players, officials and fans alike.

However, Woolmer has bitten back, stating that Smith has little or no idea as he does not have the experience in the side to know what kind of cricketer and man Klusener is.
