Rain strikes again.
Monday, May 19 2003Rain returned to deem the Zimbabwean's final warm-up game a dull draw.
Just over 60 overs were bowled in the day as Zimbabwe battled onto 395, Ervine doing his Test prospects no harm with an unbeaten 57 and Paul Hutchison picking up 2 more wickets to finish with 4 in the innings.
Sussex weren't really troubled by the Zimbabwean attack, closing on 179-4 thanks to a half century from Bas Zuiderent and 49 from Murray Goodwin.
Andy Blignaut and Heath Streak were tight with ball, both picking up a wicket, but Ervine's bowling fell short of the mark, conceding 56 in his 11 overs.
Zimbabwe 395 (Vermeulen 198, Flower 64, Ervine 57*, Hutchison 4-94)
Sussex 179-4 (Zuiderent 50).
