ICC To The Rescue

After Bangladesh's disastrous introduction to the Test arena, the ICC have come to their rescue by offering them a helping hand, and vowing to reverse their fortunes.

Andrew Eade, ICC’s Global Development Manager

Andrew Eade, ICC's Global Development Manager, said “they would help whittle down lists for a chief executive officer of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) along with a high-profile coach for the under-19 team. "I honestly tried to point out specific areas where the ICC could render support to make Bangladesh more competitive as quickly as possible," said Eade. "We also want to help build a national training centre with modern facilities and to restart specialised training programmes and to lobby the Asian Cricket Council to fund development activities in Bangladesh."

So far on their Test experience Bangladesh have lost all but one match, with that lone match a heavily rain effected encounter with the Zimbabwean side.

The One Day side of things tell just a sorry tale, with Bangladesh failing to win a single One-Day International now for four long years, even matches against the minnows didn’t quite go to plan at the World Cup in South Africa.

But while Eade says the ICC wants to bring better results in no time at all, Dav Whatmore, the new Bangladesh coach, has warned the waiting public not to be quite so hasty and although he's confident he can turn things around, it will not be an over night occurrence.
