Akhtar receives 2 match ban

Shoaib Akhtar has been banned for 2 matches for ball tampering during Pakistan's ODI against New Zealand earlier today.

Akhtar was caught using his thumb to scratch the quarter seam of the ball which is in breach of Law 42.3 and Level 2.10 of the ICC Code of Conduct.

Gundappa Viswanath the match referee also fined Akhtar 75% of his match fee.

It was thought Akhtar would receive a 4-8 match ban following his bottle throwing insistent in October of last year against Zimbabwe.
