Pakistan beat New Zealand

Pakistan beat New Zealand by 22 runs earlier today to qualify for the tri-series final against New Zealand. Sri Lanka missed out on the final of a home tri-series for the first time in their history.

Stephen Fleming won the toss and sent Pakistan into bat. The Kiwis got two early wickets reducing Pakistan to 10 for 2 off 3 overs.

The middle order then came to the party however with some good partnerships and the innings of the tournament by Shoaib Malik who made 74 from 72 balls who saw Pakistan through to 203/9 off their 50 overs which was the highest total of the tournament thus far.

New Zealand got off to a good start putting on 36 for the first wicket but from that point on wickets fell at regular intervals and New Zealand fell 22 runs short.

Akhtar, Sami and Kaneria each took 3 wickets while Scott Styris was the top scorer with 46.
