CC2 24-27 July
Tuesday, July 29 2003Derbyshire struggled to a draw against Durham, after earlier rain intervention at Derby had made it almost certain that the two teams would share the points. However, declarations from both sides meant that Derbyshire were set 250 to win. After scoring 501 in the first inninngs, Durham could afford to be sporting, declaring their second innings on 110-2, to set up an entertaining finish. They looked as though they might snatch a victory, removing both Michael Di Venuto and Mohammad Kaif early, however Steve Selwood resisted, scoring 88, and was supported by both Rawait Khan and Luke Sutton. Just when Derbyshire looked to be within striking distance, Selwood and Sutton were dismissed, leaving the home side struggling, ending on 204-7.
