Ponting to miss two Tests

Australia's injured captain Ricky Ponting has been confirmed to miss the first two Tests of their away series against India.

Ponting underwent examinations on his broken left thumb in Sydney in the last couple of days, the result of which is in between, not too good, yet optimistic. He is hoping to be fit by the time for the third Test which starts October 26 in Nagpur.

Ponitng had injured his thumb while fielding in the slips, during Australia's semi-final loss to England in the ICC Champions Trophy.

Australia play the first Test against India at Bangalore, starting October 6.
