Tendulkar Out Of Champions Trophy

Sachin Tendulkar has been ruled out of the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy, after failing to overcome his tennis elbow injury. The injury also forced him out of both of India's recent ODI series the Videocon Cup in Amstelveen, as well the current NatWest Challenge with England.

Goutam Dasgupta, India's team manager said that "Tendulkar will not be available for any cricket for the next fortnight, and a replacement will have to be called upon. That decision will be left up to the selectors over the next day or two"

Two names in contention include Dinesh Mongia who is currently playing as an overseas player for Lancashire and Rohan Gavaskar, who has been featuring in the current NatWest Challenge, both of whom will already be fully adapt to the English conditions.
