Crawley hits triple ton in D2
Sunday, July 25 2004FRIZZELL COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION 2
25TH JULY 2004
Nottinghamshire vs Hampshire
Leaders Notts were given a huge shock by England reject John Crawley, who made a career best 301* as Hants piled on the runs and eventually declared at 641 for 4. In reply, they have reached 129 for 3, with Shane Warne already claiming two wickets. The chances of Notts battling out the last two days for a draw look pretty slim.
Leicestershire vs Essex
Having been set an unlikely target of 396 for victory, Leicestershire gave Essex something of a fright, largely through a battling 95 from John Sadler. However, four wickets from Darren Gough saw Essex win by 48 runs.
Durham vs Derbyshire
Derbyshire put a dent in Durham's promotion hopes with a 165 run win at the Riverside. John Moss' 147* allowed Derbyshire the rare luxury of declaring and setting an unlikely target of 444. Durham never got close, going down by 165 runs.
Yorkshire vs Somerset
Yorkshire's stuttering promotion challenge suffered another setback as Somerset crushed them by 10 wickets. Ricky Ponting's 112 on debut had helped them build a first inning lead of 155, but Yorkshire's demise was feeble. Nixon McLean claimed four victims as the Tykes folded for 160, with only Matt Wood, who carried his bat for 66*, offering any resistance whatsoever.
