West Indians v Sri Lanka A : Day 1

The West Indies continued their preparations for the upcoming Test series against England with a good opening day showing agaisnt Sri Lanka 'A' at the Denis Compton Oval. Attacking centuries from Sylvester Joseph and Dwayne Bravo were central in the tourists' score of 351/6 at stumps.

Last week's centurion, Devon Smith was dismissed early on for 6 and his fellow opener Ramnaresh Sarwan, standing in for the resting Brian Lara, made 28. Lokuarachchi accounted for the Guyanese right-hander, one of his 2/69 on the day and would later bowl Sylvester Joseph. Out-of-form Chanderpaul (32) joined Joseph at the crease and helped add 94 runs then was run out.

Dwayne Smith (8) once again made minimal impact and was the second run out victim of the innings. This brought Dwayne Bravo to the crease and he was aggressive throughout his 130-ball knock of 118. He lost his partner Joseph (114 off 152; 21 fours, 1 six) but carried on and raised his century from his 117th ball. Joseph's century took 137 balls to compile.

Just 2 balls before the close of play, Dwayne Bravo departed, having hit 17 fours and 2 sixes. Omari Banks (0 not out) survived the final exchanges and will be joined by Ridley Jacobs (30 not out) on day two.
