Another day and another century for a West Indian batsman. Ridley Jacobs and Omari Banks improved their overnight stand to 183 runs before Banks (90) was dismissed and the declaration came at 534/7. Ridley Jacobs reached his century from 158 balls and ended unbeaten on 117 with 17 fours and a six. In Banks' 85-ball knock, he struck 9 fours and 6 sixes to entertain the crowd.

Batting in their first innings, the Sri Lankan batsmen took the frustration of their bowlers out on the desperately out-of-form Fidel Edwards, who was caned for 10-1-82-1. Opener Daniel (72) saw 82 balls in his innings and led the charge, with Jehan Mubarak (61) chipping in nicely. chipping in handily. Omari Banks disturbed the middle order, taking 3 wickets and wicketkeeper Jayawardene (16 not out) and Mirando (9 not out) held up the innings to the close - 271/6.
