Hove: Sussex v Kent
Cottey, Prior make Kent toil

It was a run filled day at Hove today as Sussex responded magnificently to Kent's first innings 330, with Tony Cottey and Matt Prior both scoring centuries.

The Sussex men have a lead of 189 as Kent go into the final day with no hope of winning the match and they have already lost three wickets in their final innings.

Eariler on in the day, Cottey and Prior were superbly backed up by a most powerful middle order, with Chris Adams and Murray Goodwin hitting fifties.

Despite Min Patel taking five wicket, three bowlers (Patel, Butler and Sheriyar) went for over a hundred runs in a clinical display of partnership batting.

Kent now rely on the inexperience of Alex Loudon and Niall O’Brien if they are going to avoid a likely defeat.

Sussex 618
