Collymore in, Rampaul out
Friday, July 23 2004Ravi Rampaul will not make his Test debut in England as he would have hoped. Well, at least not this year. Instead he returns home to the West Indies under and injury cloud.
Having struggled with shin splints since the Natwest series, Rampaul has been pulled out of the squad for immediate treatment. Replacing the inexperienced Rampaul is the rather more experienced and steady Corey Collymore.
Collymore has not represented the West Indies since he was dropped after his 18-run over against England in the 1st ODI in the Caribbean earlier this year. The over contributed significantly to West Indian defeat from the sight of victory.
The Bajan seamer has 31 Test wickets at 33.54. His 2 five-wicket hauls include a career best of 7 for 57 against Sri Lanka in his third Test match.
