Day Two
Jamaica bounced back from their Saturday defeat to beat the Leeward Islands despite a late scare and hosts Guyana started their series in winning form, despite struggles with the bat.
Windward Islands vs. Guyana
Hampton Court, Guyana
Toss: Windward Islands
Inserted to bat first, Guyana started poorly and saw Chattergoon, Christian and Cush all register ducks. From 1/3, the score was advanced to 28 when the fourth wicket fell. Darren Sammy (7-2-21-1) accounted for Test batsman and Guyana captain Shivnarine Chanderpaul, bowled for 13. Narsingh Deonarine (63) joined the incumbent Krishna Arjune (28) and added 46 runs for the 5th wicket.
When Arjune was stumped off Rawle Lewis, Deonarine found a partner in Damodar Daesrath (34) and 71 more runs were added. Rawle Lewis finished with 3/38, following on from his 5/13 the day before, and Kenroy Peters (2/18) and Deighton Butler (2/29) took a couple each. Guyana was bowled out for 172 with 17 balls left in the innings.
The Guyanese pace bowlers started poorly, especially King, who bowled 8 wides in his first 4 overs. King's partner in pace, Rayon Griffith dismissed Devon Smith (8) and Craig Emmanuel (8) to leave the Windwards 34/2. With entry of spin from McGarell (2/9), Nagamootoo (2/9) and Chattergoon (2/35), the Windwards were found struggling in the chase.
The score slipped to 64/5 and ultimately 138 all out. Junior Murray (45) and Darren Sammy (28) were the only ones to score more than 10 in the innings and Guyana won by 34 runs. Former Test bowler Reon King finished with 7.2-0-30-0.

Jamaica vs. Leeward Islands
Uitvlugt, Guyana
Toss: Jamaica
Despite the debacle of Sunday, Jamaica batted first once more upon winning the toss against the Leeward Islands. This time around the improvement was significant and the end total stood at 245/9. West Indies opener Chris Gayle was dismissed by Kerry Jeremy for just 1, but Xavier Marshall (64) and Wavell Hinds (58) struck half-centuries to recover to 111. At that score, Marshall and Marlon Samuels (0) were quickly removed by Alex Adams.
Baugh (32), Lambert (17) and McInnis (21) made contributions to the close and pacer Daren Powell finished unbeaten on 14. Alex Adams (3/39) and Tonito Willett (3/37) were the main wicket-takers. In the chase the Leewards got off to a horrible start and lost Adams (0) and Stuart Williams (0) to Powell, then Sylvester Joseph (6) and Austin Richards (13) to Gayle - 36/4.
The chase seemed doomed at 37/6 when Willett (1) and Cornwall (0) were McInnis' victms, then Runako Morton and Omari Banks set about taking the attack back to the Jamaican bowling. A partnership of 157 off 183 balls for the seventh wicket and the Leeward Islands was back into the match. Omari Banks hit 4 sixes in his 105-ball 61, but he perished at the crucial stage of the chase and with him, his team's hopes.
Morton went on to register an unbeaten 101, facing 98 balls in the process.
