Leg-spinner Collins Obuya has been left out of Kenya's 14-member squad for Septermber's ICC Champions Trophy in England, after he failed to pass fit because of an operation carried out last week.

Obuya, 23, who sprang to the scene in Kenya's famous win over Sri Lanka during last year's World Cup, underwent an operation for a swollen appendix. Initially, it looked as if he would be able to recover in time, however according to latest check-ups, it might take a couple of months for him to return to action.

Despite an impending decision regarding his status in Kenyan cricket, Maurice Odumbe, who has been alleged of match-fixing, has been included in the squad. The former skipper will find out of August 16, whether or not he has been given a life ban for his involvement with a bookmaker.

Three youngsters - batsmen Ragheb Aga and Malhar Patel and medium pacer Morris Ouma - have also been included in the sqaud, whereas paceman Josephat Ababu has been recalled after an absence of three years.

Kenya squad:
Steve Tikolo (captain), Kennedy Obuya (wicket-keeper), Ravindu Shah, Hitesh Modi, Maurice Odumbe, Ragheb Aga, Malhar Patel, Peter Ogondo, Josephat Ababu, Martin Suji, Thomas Odoyo, Morris Ouma, Lamech Onyango, Tony Suji.
