Run-fest at Trent Bridge in CC2
Thursday, August 12 2004CC2: Hussey and Warren pile on the runs at Trent Bridge
Trent Bridge: Nottinghamshire v Leicestershire (Day 1)
Notts consolidated their position at the top of the division with a strong batting performance. Russell Warren and David Hussey both hit hundreds after Jason Gallian had provided a platform at the start of the innings. England prospect Kevin Pietersen missed out and, for once, failed to trouble the scorers. Mark Cleary was the pick of the bowlers and Leicestershire will need to make early inroads tomorrow if they are to stay in this game.
Nottinghamshire 356 for 5
Hussey 140, Warren 120*, Gallian 66, Cleary 2 for 43
Southampton: Hampshire v Glamorgan (Day 1)
Needing to recover from their disastrous performance against Essex, promotion hopefuls Hampshire made a good start but, after reaching 116 for 1, lost wickets steadily and honours were shared by the end of the day's play. Michael Brown hit a patient 90 at the top of the innings and Derek Kenway made a useful 64, but too many of their batsmen were dismissed after getting a start. Robert Croft was the most successful bowler.
Hampshire 317 for 7
Brown 90, Kenway 64, Croft 3 for 73
