Robbie Hart Calls Stumps

Tuesday, August 10 2004

Former New Zealand Test wicket-keeper Robbie Hart has announced his retirement from the game at the tender age of 29.

Hart, a polished gloveman and determined batsman, played 11 Test for New Zealand as his finest hour came in the West Indies during 2002 - playing a crucial role with both bat and gloves in the series victory.

He lost his Test place late in 2003 to Brendon McCullum after struggling to regain his consistency with bat and gloves. He was recently overlooked in favour of Gareth Hopkins for the reserve keeper birth to England, effectively ending his international hopes.

Alongside his 11 Test matches he also played two One-Day Internationals and over 100 matches for Northern Districts.

He is leaving the game to pursue business interests.
