NZ on Top in Tour Match

Sunday, October 17 2004

At the close of day 2, the black caps Zealand find themselves in a strong position versus the Bangladesh Cricket Board XI.

After declaring on 344/6, New Zealand proceeded to reduce the home side to 200/7 thanks to the hard work of spin twins Daniel Vettori and Paul Wiseman. The pair bowled the bulk of the overs, both picking up two wickets.

Hannan Sarkar and Mohammad Ashraful top scored for the homeside each making 44. Earlier in the day, Brendon McCullum notched up a well compiled half century, while Vettori showed his worth as a batsman hitting 21 not out.

The tourists will go into day 3 looking for a solid hit out ahead of Tuesdays first test match against Bangladesh in Dhaka.
