Andrew keeps his cool
Monday, August 23 2004A fine last over from Gareth Andrew saw Somerset home. With Scotland needing 8 runs and having 2 wickets in hand, the off spinner clean bowled the last 2 men with his first 2 balls to hand the County side a narrow victory.
It had started well for Somerset, as Jamie Cox, James Hildreth and Matt Wood all struck half centuries before Craig Wright ran through the lower order to take 5 wickets and partially restrict the hosts to 253-8 from their 45 overs.
In reply, Gregor Maiden and Cedric English contributed well early on, before Pakistani import Yasir Arafat blasted a unbeaten 55 from only 40 balls, but unfortunately for his side, he wasn't on strike when Andrew commenced the final over.
Somerset 253-8
Cox 63(84), Wood 56(54), Hildreth 53(59), Wright 5-44(6)
Scotland 246
Arafat 55*(40), English 55(76), Maiden 44(52), Andrew 4-48(7.2), Caddick 1-29(9)
