Lord’s: Middlesex v Gloucestershire
Early wickets peg Middlesex back
Gloucestershire will be the happier of the two sides at the end of day two as they made use of the new ball and had Middlesex struggling to 66 for 3 at the close.
Earlier, Philip Weston constructed a painfully slow 98, which included only 4 fours. He was the cornerstone of Gloucestershire’s 347 over two rain affected days.
Champion Indian quick, Ajit Agarkar was the pick of the Middlesex bowlers with five wickets.
If Middlesex can hold together in the middle order, a draw looks to be the most likely result.
Gloucestershire 347
Weston 98, Agarkar 5-81, Cook 3-63
Middlesex 66-3
The Oval: Surrey v Worcestershire
Tudor returns with a bang
Surrey collapsed disappointingly after Ramprakash’s splendid hundred as Matt Mason and Kabir Ali incited a middle order collapse at the start of day two.
However, Alex Tudor responded with four wickets, and it looks like the visitors will concede a heavy first innings lead.
Their reply was lead by a hundred run opening stand by Peters and Moore, but Alex Tudor and Jimmy Ormond impressed by cleaning up the top order.
Surrey 375
Ramprakash 130, Mason 3-89
Worcestershire 281-8
Moore 76, Tudor 4-61
Canterbury: Kent v Sussex
Kent take control despite Prior century
Kent took a large first innings lead in the south coast derby, as they swept away Sussex, who despite a century from keeper Matt Prior, looked largely sea against Kent at Canterbury today.
Middlesex’s reply to 527 was boosted largely by Prior and Mushtaq Ahmed, who hit an entertaining quickfire 45. Richard Montgomerie also hit 70.
However new boys Joseph and Dennington shared five wickets to give Kent a commanding 190 run lead.
Kent 527
Sussex 332
