Carib Beer Cricket Series

Round 2

Trinidad and Tobago v. Barbados
Barbados
Day 4

It was the stage for another Trinbagonian spinner to star on the fourth and final day. Following Dave Mohammed's 7/49 the day before, Amit Jaggernauth claimed 5 for 40 to guide Trinidad and Tobago to victory by 48 runs.

T&T began play leading by 230 runs at 156/7, then pushed on to a total of 182 all out. Young wicketkeeper-batsman, Denesh Ramdin made 48 for the cause. Pacers Corey Collymore (3/52) and Jason Bennett (3/27) and offspinner Ryan Hurley (3/40) were effective for Barbados.

The Bajans set out to chase 257 for victory. The score was posted at 137/3, but regular wickets slowed the chase from them on. Martin Nurse (55) and Dwayne Smith (51) did manage to post half-centuries with some adventurous shots, but it was not enough. Barbados slipped to 208 all out.

Smith's innings lasted 39 balls and featured 3 fours and 3 sixes as he stayed true to his reputation. Indeed, he typically threw away his wicket to Dave Mohammed, skying to the deep.

Famously, the victory is the first taste of defeat for Barbados in 23 First Class matches. Previously they had not lost since 2002, against Trinidad and Tobago then too.

Jamaica v. Windward Islands
St. Lucia
Day 4

Despite being knocked over for 136 in the second innings, Jamaica secured victory over the Windward Islands by 83 runs. Jamaica added 46 runs to the overnight score before losing its last 4 wickets.

Guyana v. Leeward Islands
Nevis
Day 4

An unbeatean hundred from Sewnarine Chattergoon ensured that Guyana held on for a draw against the Leeward Islands. Chattergoon scored 100 not out off 187 balls with 16 fours.

He played part of his innings with a runner, batting throughout with courage and determination. From 60/4, Guyana was lifted to 236/7 when the game was called off.

This after Guyana's first innings closed at 139, having resumed on 118/8 in the morning. The follow-on was enforced and, but for Chattergoon's stand, Guyana would almost certainly have met defeat. With fellow left-hander Assad Fudadin (47), 146 runs were added for the fifth wicket and despite the loss of 3 wickets for 7 runs when the partnership was broken, it proved enough to save the match.

Score Summary:
Leeward Islands 1st innings 317 ao (- overs)
