Injuries compound Pakistan's woes
Friday, December 31 2004Following on to the classic cliche "surely it can't get any worse", Pakistan's troubles have been compounded further. Not only do they face a sweep at the hands of dominant World Champions Australia, but they will have to try to prevent it without three key players. Indeed, allrounders Abdur Razzaq will miss the third Test due to an unknown illness for which he is being observed in the hospital, whilst Mohammad Sami and Shoaib Malik have injuries. This after doubts over captain Inzamam-ul-Haq's availability due to a back injury.
Inzamam missed the second Test and Pakistan lost by 9 wickets under the stand-in captain Yousuf Youhana. Youhana scored a century in the first innings.
Sami has been stated to have a "badly bruised and bleeding heel" whilst Malik has stitches in his right hand. Razzaq has been experiencing vomiting, dizziness and breathing difficulties and was hospitalized during the second Test.
Inzamam's condition is said to be improving and the hope is that he will play in the third Test.
