Natural disasters delay ODI series

A five-day mourning period has been announced by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC), following the tragic events of the past weekend. An estimated 3000 persons have died or been declared missing following tidal wave strikes on the northern coast of the island.

During the period, all domestic and international matches will be postponed, meaning that Wednesday's ODI against New Zealand will be shifted to January 11th.

Sympathizing with the situation, New Zealand Cricket's chief executive, Martin Snedden said, "New Zealand Cricket has great compassion for the people of Sri Lanka and what they have suffered during this terrible time."

The One Day Internationals will resume with Sunday's (January 2nd) game at Queenstown.
