Leipus resigns as Indian physio
Wednesday, November 10 2004Andrew Leipus has resigned as the physiotherapist of the national Indian cricket team, effective immediately after the conclusion of the forthcoming two-Test series against South Africa at home.
Leipus was offered a three-year contract before the start of the current Indian season the signing of which he postponed indefinitely.
Leipus, who has been working with the Indian team since 1999, said that he wants to spend more time with his family, as well as pursue further professional qualifications, and thus the decision.
However, Leipus did offer his services as a second fiddle contributor to whoever is selected as the next physiotherapist. The most likely replacement for now seems to be former Bangladesh physio, John Gloster.
Gloster, who has also previously worked with Surrey, spent about two years as the physio of the Bangladesh team, before his contract terms came to an end a month back.
