ICC Suspends Ganguly's Ban

Tuesday, November 16 2004

The International Cricket Council has decided to suspend the ban on Saurav Ganguly. The Indian skipper is free to play international cricket while the ICC decides on the outcome of a possible BCCI appeal.

Earlier, Clive Lloyd had banned Ganguly for two tests, due to India's slow over rate during Saturday's ODI against Pakistan.

Some thought this was a harsh decision, as the dew on the field slowed proceedings down while players furiously dried the ball after every over.

This means India's batting order problems will return, as the team management will have to choose between creating a makeshift opener or dropping an in-form batsman.
