Zimbabwe Test squad for Bangladesh

Thursday, December 9 2004

Hamilton Masakadza returns to Zimbabwe Test cricket, as he has been included in the 16-man squad which will tour Bangladesh this month. Debuting with a century against the West Indies at the tender age of 18, Masakadza has been out of Test cricket for 2 years due to study commitments at university in South Africa.

The right-handed batsman sports a Test average of 26.69 with a half-century in addition to his lone hundred. He recently returned to international play against England in One Day International cricket, scoring his maiden ODI half-century in the final game of the 4-match series.

Other new inclusions in the squad are batsman Terrence Duffin and legspinner Graeme Cremer. Duffin, 22, has a First Class average of 26.55 with a highest score of 89 and 6 other fifties. Cremer, 18, has taken 14 FC wickets in his 5 matches at an average of 33.35 and an economy rate of 4.86.

Notable omissions are those of Vusi Sibanda, Blessing Mahwire, Alester Maregwede and Tawanda Mupariwa.
