Gilchrist, Gillespie injured
Saturday, January 15 2005Both Adam Gilchrist and Jason Gillespie will miss Australia's next VB series encounter, against Pakistan, at Hobart on January 16, because of injuries.
Gilchrist is reported to have injured his left knee. Scans revealed that there was some soft tissue irritation and swelling, which will keep him out of the next match. He will most likely return for the next match at Brisbane.
Meanwhile, Gillespie's injury, a trouble with his right calf muscle, is more serious than his vice-captain's, which means that he might have to sit out of a few more games, all depending on further scans.
New South Wales keeper Brad Haddin has been called up as Gilchrist's replacement for Hobart, whereas Simon Katich, who was unavailable for selection for the first match of the series because of a throat infection, has been passed fit.
