Tuffey back for Kiwis

Friday, December 17 2004

New Zealand selectors have named Daryl Tuffey in the national squad for the home ODI series against Sri Lanka, starting on Boxing Day.

Tuffey missed the recent tour of Bangladesh as well as Australia because of a leg injury, which according to the team management has healed considerably for him to return.

The squad, reduced to only 12 for the first three ODIs, doesn't contain a place for either all-rounder Andre Adams or bowler Tama Canning, both of whom were a part of the touring party to Australia.

Chris Harris too misses the series as a result of a shoulder injury, to repair which he underwent surgery yesterday.

New Zealand squad:
Stephen Fleming (captain), Nathan Astle, Mathew Sinclair, Hamish Marshall, Scott Styris, Chris Cairns, Jacob Oram, Brendon McCullum (wicket-keeper), Daniel Vettori, Kyle Mills, Ian Butler, Daryl Tuffey.
