India v Bangladesh
Second Test, Day 1
Chittagong, Bangladesh

Gautam Gambhir notched up his maiden Test century on Day 1 of the second Test between Bangladesh and India at Chittagong, to lead India to a comfortable 334 for 2.

Gambhir was ably partnered by Rahul Dravid, who brought up his first century of the season, is a typically characteristic innings. Both shared a 259-run partnership, after Virendar Sehwag failed to justify the opportunity of batting on an evidently batsman's wicket, as India won the toss and elected to bat first.

Sehwag chased a wide delivery from Mushrafe Mortaza, only to edge it to the home team skipper Habibul Bashar in the slips, ending his innings on 10, and with India reduced to 14 for 1.

Gambhir fell for 139, bottom-edging a pull shot off debutant Nazmul Hossain onto his stumps. Dravid remained unbeaten on 145 at the end of day's play, with Tendulkar looking strong at the other end on 36, which included three fours off a single over.
