India unchanged for 2nd Test
Thursday, November 25 2004India has named an unchanged squad to contest the second Test match against South Africa. The just-finished first Test featured a drawn result and the second will start on Sunday 28th November.
Captain Sourav Ganguly may find himself out of the squad though, as his hearing for the 2-match penalty for slow over rates (imposed regarding the India-Pakistan Jubilee match) is scheduled for tomorrow. Pending the result of the hearing, a replacement may be drafted into the squad.
The only other likely change to the playing XI from the first Test is the possible inclusion of Irfan Pathan. The seamer may come into the team ahead of one of the spinners, on the traditionally less spin-friendly Eden Gardens track. Ganguly opened the bowling with Zaheer Khan in the first Test as three specialist spinners played.
India 2nd Test sqaud:
SC Ganguly (C), KKD Karthik (wk), SR Tendulkar, G Gambhir, V Sehwag, R Dravid, VVS Laxman, A Kumble, ID Pathan, M Kaif, Z Khan, Harbhajan Singh, M Kartik, A Nehra.
