India call up un-capped pace duo
Thursday, December 2 2004The Indian selectors have named two un-capped pace bowlers in the 15-member Test squad to tour Bangladesh.
Gagandeep Singh and SS Paul are the two new faces in the side, though the latter has already been named in the national squad before, though failing to make it to the final XI.
Singh, 23, is an effective replacement for left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra, who has been rested because of an abdominal strain.
Singh, who plays for Punjab in the domestic circuit has an impressive first-class record, having picked up 154 wickets since 1999-2001, when he picked came on the scene, at an astonishing average of 19.72.
Paul's inclusion means that Ajit Agarkar misses out yet again, after being left out since the final Test against Australia.
Yuvraj Singh too has been neglected, despite showing the selectors his mettle during a composed, yet blazing 78 against Pakistan the ODI at Kolkalata.
The squad for the ODIs will be named on Thursday.
