Tudor About To Sign With Essex?

Essex CCC have tried to play down reports that former Surrey and England bowler Alex Tudor is about to sign for the county.

Tudor was released by Surrey at the end of the season after taking 211 wickets and scoring 1,543 runs in 67 first class matches.

Speculation has arisen after Tudor was spotted travelling to Munich for treatment accompanied by the Essex coach Graham Gooch, although the Essex chief executive said "We are keeping our options open but we have had no formal conversations with Alex Tudor."

However if reports are true Essex will have a battle on their hands to win the signature of Tudor as reportedly up to eight other counties have said to made enquires about the player although Tudor is keen to stay within the London area where he is currently based.
