Smith replaces injured Sammy

Allrounder Darren Sammy may have lost any chance of selection to the West Indies World Cup squad, as injury has caused him to be been withdrawn from the one-day international team, presently in India.

Sammy sustained an injury in the second round of the Carib Beer Series – the West Indies domestic first-class tournament. Bajan allrounder Dwayne Smith has been called up in his place. Smith has struggled with the bat in recent one-day internationals, averaging 11.42 over his last 26 games. However, in that time he has bowled impressively, taking 27 wickets at an average of 30.03.

The first ODI of the 4-match series against India starts on Sunday at Nagpur.
